Can You Review My RBMK Reactor Diagram?

Click For Summary
The discussion centers around a request for expert feedback on an RBMK reactor diagram linked from Wikimedia. Participants note that the diagram resembles the older NEI generic schematic, which is deemed suitable for Wikipedia use. There is an emphasis on the importance of accuracy and clarity in reactor schematics for educational purposes. The conversation highlights the value of expert insights in refining technical illustrations. Overall, the request aims to enhance the quality of information available on nuclear reactor designs.

What type of energy is actually stored inside an atom? When an atom is split—such as in a nuclear explosion—it releases enormous energy, much of it in the form of gamma-ray electromagnetic radiation. Given this, is it correct to say that the energy stored in the atom is fundamentally electromagnetic (EM) energy? If not, how should we properly understand the nature of the energy that binds the nucleus and is released during fission?
