Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around personal experiences with electrical shocks and near-misses while working with electrical devices and systems. Participants share anecdotes related to their encounters with electricity, including mishaps involving tools, vehicles, and electric fences. The scope includes practical experiences, safety considerations, and humorous reflections on the dangers of working with electricity.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant describes how corrosion on a cable misled their test meter, leading to unexpected results.
  • Another shares a personal story of being shocked while working on a car, emphasizing the importance of verbal checks before connecting power.
  • Several participants recount various shocking experiences, including high voltage shocks from spark plug wires and 480 Volt systems, highlighting the risks involved in electrical work.
  • One participant mentions a humorous incident involving a multimeter being inserted into an outlet, which resulted in a power outage but no injury.
  • Discussions about animals, particularly goats, and their interactions with electric fences suggest they may have a sensitivity to the electrical pulses, although opinions vary on how they perceive it.
  • Some participants express disbelief at the severity of shocks described by others, indicating a range of experiences with electrical safety.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants share a variety of personal experiences with electrical shocks, but there is no consensus on the severity or frequency of such incidents. Some express disbelief at the intensity of shocks described by others, indicating differing levels of experience and risk perception.

Contextual Notes

Participants reference specific voltages and scenarios without providing detailed technical explanations or safety protocols. The discussion reflects a range of anecdotal evidence rather than established safety practices.

Well i have done some frolicking, but frolicking then was a different kind of
frolicking, there were certainly no tangas in my day, or may be there was,
but i never saw any.

No, I agree, you don't need to actually wear a tanga (or anything else for that matter), in order to frolick.

Now you must know it is dangerous being naked in the country side, all that
barbed wire, electric fences, muck flies, lord knows you could end up in
hospital with a big lump or something.

Well:
1. Big lump: Can't see what's wrong with that
2. Muck flies: Really, that was low..
3. barbed wire, electric fences: Not into that, I'm afraid.

"Tanga" must have a different meaning in the Netherlands than it does here. In all my catalogs, the "tanga" bottoms cover just slightly more than a thong, not less. Smaller than a thong is a g-string, and, well, those just aren't intended to be worn for long, they're more of a gift wrapping. :blushing:
