AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on determining stress in tile sections, with a focus on tension values. A participant expresses confidence in their solution but is uncertain due to differing results from teammates. They highlight a critical error made by teammates, who only considered a combined force of 8kN for the middle section, which could lead to structural failure. Another contributor agrees with the tension values presented and suggests that the teammates need to review fundamental concepts in Statics. The conversation emphasizes the importance of accurate calculations in structural analysis.

Homework Statement
There is a bar embedded in a tile, which consists of three sections and the following loads are applied to it. Determine the stress in each section.
Relevant Equations
A = pi(r)^2/4; E = F/A
For this problem the teacher explains the procedure for made it. I am sure that I am fine with my solution, but hours ago many teammate thay had different results...and now I am not sure.

If I understand your diagram correctly, I agree with the tension values that you determined for each of the 3 sections.

Thank you very much for confirme it. Teammates they only took the (4kN +4 kN) = 8kN for the middle section, I simply said: "if they take 8kN, the force of the section below will cause the system to simply fall"

Your friends need to review Statics.
