Difference between external and internal circuit?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion clarifies the distinction between internal and external circuits in electronics. An internal circuit consists of components within an integrated circuit, such as the 555 timer, which are fixed and unchangeable. In contrast, the external circuit comprises additional components connected outside the integrated circuit, allowing for modifications to achieve different functionalities, such as varying frequencies in oscillators.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of integrated circuits, specifically the 555 timer.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic components and their functions.
  • Familiarity with circuit design principles.
  • Ability to differentiate between internal and external circuit configurations.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the functionality and applications of the 555 timer integrated circuit.
  • Explore circuit design techniques for modifying external circuits.
  • Learn about oscillators and their operational principles.
  • Investigate other types of integrated circuits and their internal structures.
USEFUL FOR

Electronics enthusiasts, circuit designers, and students studying electrical engineering who seek to deepen their understanding of circuit configurations and integrated circuit functionality.

Do you mean what is the English meaning of these words?

As an example, you might have an integrated circuit called a 555.

This has a lot of components inside it and it needs a few extra components to make it work as an oscillator.

The ones inside it cannot be changed and these are called the internal circuit.

The ones outside the chip are ones that you supply and these can be changed to get different frequencies. This collection of components and how they are connected is called the external circuit.
