SUMMARY

The sun emits X-rays, but these rays do not reach the Earth's surface due to atmospheric absorption. Most cosmic X-rays are absorbed by the atmosphere, which is why X-ray detectors are typically placed on satellites. This ensures that data collection occurs in space, where X-rays can be detected without atmospheric interference. Understanding this phenomenon is crucial for astrophysics and space research.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic knowledge of electromagnetic radiation
  • Understanding of atmospheric science
  • Familiarity with satellite technology
  • Knowledge of cosmic radiation detection methods
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the properties of X-rays and their interaction with Earth's atmosphere
  • Explore satellite-based cosmic X-ray detection technologies
  • Study the effects of cosmic radiation on space missions
  • Investigate the role of atmospheric layers in radiation absorption
USEFUL FOR

Astronomers, astrophysicists, space mission planners, and anyone interested in the effects of solar radiation on Earth.

sorry if this sounds like a very stupid question but it was hard finding the information that i was looking for.

The sun emits x-rays.
Does those x-rays "travel" (get through the atmosphere) to earth? Dont know.
If so, Then how strong is the X-Ray here on earth?

As far as I understand, X-rays from outer space that reaches Earth are mostly absorbed by the atmosphere. That's why most cosmic X-ray detectors are out there in the satellites so as to collect more data.
