Electromagnetic field and LCD-TVs

AI Thread Summary
Medium tension electromagnetic fields do not cause permanent damage to LCD TVs, as they are not affected in the same way as CRTs. However, electrical interference from nearby appliances, particularly those with noisy motors like refrigerators, can introduce signal noise that may affect performance. The concern about power cables in the wall causing damage is largely unfounded. If interference is a concern, maintaining distance from noisy appliances is advisable. Overall, LCD TVs are generally safe from medium tension electromagnetic fields.

Can a medium tension electromagnetic field cause permanent damage to LCD tvs?

I am about to buy a LCD to my living room, but the builder said that, because of the electric cables in the wall having medium tension, it could cause an electric field that can ruin a LCD screen. Is this true?

If so, how far must I place de TV?

Thank you

No magnetic fields do not effect an LCD in the same way as a CRT.
Having said that, it is possible that electrical interference from other applicances could add noise to the signal circuitry in the TV.
This tends to be more of a problem from noisy electrical motors in things like fridges rather than power cables in the wall.

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...
