SUMMARY

The volume of a house measuring 62 ft in length, 29 ft in width, and 7.3 ft in height is calculated using the formula L x W x H. The initial calculation yielded 13,125.4 cubic feet. However, to convert this volume to cubic centimeters, the correct conversion factor must be applied: 1 cubic foot equals 28,316.8466 cubic centimeters. Therefore, the accurate volume in cubic centimeters is 400,062 cm³ when calculated correctly using the conversion factor at the beginning of the problem.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of volume calculation (L x W x H)
  • Knowledge of unit conversion between feet and centimeters
  • Familiarity with cubic measurement units
  • Basic arithmetic skills for multiplication and conversion
NEXT STEPS
  • Learn about unit conversion for volume measurements
  • Explore the mathematical principles of cubic measurements
  • Study the implications of dimensional analysis in physics
  • Practice solving similar volume calculation problems with different dimensions
USEFUL FOR

Students in mathematics or physics, educators teaching geometry, and anyone involved in construction or architecture requiring volume calculations.

Homework Statement

A house is 62 ft long and 29 ft wide, and has
7.3 ft high ceilings.
What is the volume of the interior of the
house?
Answer in units of cm3

Homework Equations

LxWxH ??

The Attempt at a Solution

62x29x7.3= 13125.4
Then I converted it to cm and got 400062

But the units are not centimeters. They are cubic centimeters. You need to convert from "cubic feet" to "cubic centimeters"
(You went from "feet" to "cm" which is incorrect)

I would suggest doing the conversion at the beginning of the problem

your should be 62x29x7.3x(12x2.54)^3 cm3

since 1 ft =12 inch and 1 inch =2.54 cm
