SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for reliable TTT (Time-Temperature-Transformation) diagrams specifically for SA-516 70 steel. Participants emphasize that manufacturers and suppliers of metals typically provide essential information, including TTT diagrams. The conversation highlights the need for a centralized resource for heat treatment plans, particularly for post-weld heat treatment applications. Users express frustration with ineffective Google searches for this specialized data.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of TTT diagrams and their significance in heat treatment.
  • Familiarity with SA-516 70 steel and its applications.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes, including post-weld heat treatment.
  • Experience with sourcing technical data from manufacturers and suppliers.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research available TTT diagrams for SA-516 70 steel from reputable manufacturers.
  • Explore resources on heat treatment planning and execution for steel alloys.
  • Investigate databases or publications that compile TTT diagrams for various materials.
  • Learn about the specific requirements and techniques for post-weld heat treatment.
USEFUL FOR

Metallurgists, materials engineers, and professionals involved in heat treatment planning for steel, particularly those working with SA-516 70 and related materials.

I am working on a heat treatment plan, and I am curious if there is a go-to source for ttt diagrams for particular materials. I am working with SA-516 70, but it would be nice if there was one place where I could go to get current/reliable information. So far google searches have been unsuccessful.

What kind of heat treatment? Is it a post weld heat treatment?
