Hard to find some threads

Before the redesign, we were able to see all threads when reviewing "new posts" even if we had previously viewed one. But now, a post does not show up in the list of new posts until someone replies to it. This makes it difficult to later return to a post in order to reply to it. Today I did remember what forum a thread was in but when I tried to find it, it wasn't there because it had been moved to another forum. I had to go into my browser history in order to see if the post had been moved or went to the Black Hole. Is there a way to see all posts without hiding ones that I've visited?

Yes, I know about those two pages. I have the second one bookmarked and that's how I normally enter PF. What I'm referring to is when you go into the Forums tab and select "New Posts". That operates like your first link where it hides things that you've seen recently. What I'm looking for is a way to view new posts like your second link so that posts aren't hidden.

For example: Reply to a thread, select New Posts right after that and the post that you just made isn't in the list.

Okay --- just went looking for a post of mine from a couple months ago vis a vis "Zero to the zeroth power," https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/zero-to-the-zeroth-power.800080/ , and couldn't find it; looked for key words, checked my bookmarks, checked my watched threads, looked for the OP --- no hits. Thought about posting in https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/mods-deleting-threads.802328/ , but this seemed a more appropriate place to post.

Have there been users who've abandoned the forum and taken their posts/threads with them when they leave?

You cannot delete your own threads, and we (mentors) do not delete old threads (especially if they got replies) unless there is a really good reason to do so.

Been Greg's policy from "day one," hence the question.

What's the difference between Forums/New Posts and Forums/New Posts/Recent Posts?

The first one hides posts that you've seen and the second one doesn't.

    Seen, or clicked into?

I'm not sure what the difference is. If the page hasn't changed since the last time that you've seen the thread, it won't show up in the New Posts link. The Recent Posts link shows everything.

Should be: "requested some page from the server that includes the most recent post in the thread"
Clicking on the link and closing the page before it fully loads is sufficient to "read" it.

I would like to suggest an enhancement to the interface. You have a search option, but only to find posts by members. I would like to search for titles of threads. The reason is I want to do this is to look through the large number of threads in a systematic way, When I finish looking at a thread, and want to leave the PF site for a while, when I return I would like to be able to locate that last thread I looked at so I can continue from there.

    SORRY -- NEVER MIND

I just found the "More Option".

This is much easier with the bookmark function (bottom left in every post).

    Hi mfb:
Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately allI I see at the bottom left of a post is "report". Can you give me some additional help in finding the bookmark button?

I think the bookmark is available only to Gold Members?

You can also use the search option at the top of the page if you know words in the title, or subject matter of the thread [key words] you are seeking.

    Oops sorry, didn't know that.

If you read threads page by page, "watch"ing them (top right of the thread view) is also an option as long as they are active. The watched threads will lead to the first unread page or post then.
