HELP: Simscape for structural engineering

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the usefulness of Simscape in structural engineering, particularly in the context of modeling and simulation. Participants are exploring resources, experiences, and challenges related to using Simscape for structural dynamics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant is seeking reading materials or tutorials for using Simscape, expressing a lack of familiarity with Matlab and the program itself.
  • The same participant suggests that Simscape may primarily be useful in structural dynamics, although they acknowledge their limited experience in that area.
  • Another participant expresses frustration over the lack of responses and shares their own difficulties in building models with Simscape.
  • A separate post, mistakenly included in the thread, inquires about software for locating voids in building collapses, which is unrelated to the original topic.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion does not reach a consensus, as there are no replies to the initial inquiry about Simscape, and the unrelated post introduces confusion regarding the topic.

Contextual Notes

The initial participant's assumptions about the applicability of Simscape in structural dynamics remain unverified, and the discussion lacks detailed technical insights or shared experiences from other users.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in using Simscape for structural engineering applications, particularly those looking for resources or community support in modeling and simulation.

Hello,

I am assisting my professor by investigating the usefulness of Simscape in structural engineering. I have just recently obtained a copy of Matlab, and I am totally unfamiliar with the entire program as a whole. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good reading materials or tutorials for using Simscape? I ran through the examples at the Mathworks website, but it was not nearly enough. What I have gathered from exploring the Simscape libraries is that this program will likely only be useful in structural dynamics (which I, of course, have zero experience in). If I am mistaken, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your replies.

everyone is rare but some people are more common than others.

Why would you post this in my Simscape thread?

sorry hit the wrong thread
