How Can I Self-Study Dynamic Systems?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

To self-study dynamic systems effectively, begin with foundational knowledge in applied differential equations. A recommended starting point is "System Dynamics" by Palm, which provides numerous examples and MATLAB programming guidance for numerical solutions. Understanding spring vibrational mechanics is crucial, as it forms a core concept in dynamic systems. This approach ensures a structured learning path without formal academic courses.

PREREQUISITES
  • Applied differential equations knowledge
  • Familiarity with MATLAB programming
  • Basic understanding of physics, particularly dynamics
  • Concepts of vibrational mechanics
NEXT STEPS
  • Study "System Dynamics" by Palm for comprehensive insights
  • Practice MATLAB programming for numerical solutions in dynamic systems
  • Explore spring vibrational mechanics in detail
  • Research additional resources on applied ODE/PDE techniques
USEFUL FOR

Mathematics graduates, self-learners in engineering, and anyone interested in mastering dynamic systems without formal education.

Hi guys,

I'm a pure math master degree. Interested in studying dynamic systems, I want to learn more about this subject without any academic course.(just self study)

How can I start it? Which books , articles and subjects?

Depends, what level of physics/dynamics do you have? Maybe we can start there. After that the easiest place to start is spring vibrational mechanics, you probably should've solved that in any applied differential equations (Applied ODE/PDE) course (If you took any).

"System Dynamics" by Palm is a good resource. It's the textbook I used. It's really good with lots of examples on how to build MATLAB programs to solve things numerically.
