How Did a Retired Chef Develop an Interest in Ancient Mathematical Texts?

Hi there, my name is Isaac, and I am interested in metrology, math history, mathematical astronomy and their relationships found in the study of ancient texts ( Ephemeris, omen texts, procedural texts, etc ), mainly cuneiform and some pre-cuneiform

I have no formal training in mathematics, am a 9th grade high school dropout who became a chef, I was able to retire early, at 40, a few years ago through hard work, and somehow became interested in the topics

Truthfully, I harbored a great dislike for mathematics as a youth
