SUMMARY

The discussion centers on calculating the concentration of a substance in a solution, specifically determining the mass of a substance in a single drop of water. Given 5 mg of a substance dissolved in 30 ml of liquid, the calculation involves using the ratio of the total mass to the total volume. The equation to find the mass in 0.05 ml is derived from the concentration formula, leading to the conclusion that the mass of the substance in one drop is approximately 0.0083 mg.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic concentration calculations
  • Familiarity with unit conversions (mg to g, ml to L)
  • Knowledge of ratios and proportions
  • Basic algebra for solving equations
NEXT STEPS
  • Study concentration calculations in solutions
  • Learn about unit conversions in chemistry
  • Explore the concept of molarity and molality
  • Review practical applications of dilution equations
USEFUL FOR

Chemistry students, laboratory technicians, and anyone involved in solution preparation and concentration calculations.

I'm looking for a set of equation(s) to solve the following problem:

Given 5 mg of a substance dissolved in 30 ml of liquid, how much of the substance will be present in 1 drop of water of the solution? Given one drop of water is equal to 0.050 ml.

Thank you. This is not homework, just a request to know the appropriate equation to solve the above question.

If 5mg get's dissolved in 30ml of water, what is the mass of water in 0.05ml of water?
Hint: 30ml is 5,what is 0.05ml?
