In polar plots, axis labeling can vary, with some users opting for traditional x and y labels due to the relationship between polar and rectangular coordinates. Others choose to omit labels entirely for clarity. The discussion highlights a lack of consensus on a standard labeling approach for polar plots. Many participants suggest that labeling the axes as x and y is a common practice. Ultimately, the choice of labeling depends on personal preference and the context of the data being presented.

If you were add axis labels to a polar plot what would you use for labels in place for a y-axis label and a x-axis label?

I've seen the axes still labeled as x and y for polar coordinates (because of the relationship between polar and rectangular). I've seen no labels at all. Why do you ask?

I'm just wondering what's the standard, if there's one to begin with.

I would label them x and y!
