How to set the frequency of a switch in NI Multisim software

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

To set the frequency of a switch in NI Multisim, users must utilize a transistor and apply a Clock Voltage to its source. Unlike other software such as PSpice, where switching frequency can be directly edited in properties, Multisim's interactive switches require this workaround. By configuring the Clock Voltage source to 50 Hz, users can achieve the desired switching frequency for applications like buck converters.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with NI Multisim software
  • Understanding of transistor operation
  • Knowledge of Clock Voltage sources
  • Basic concepts of buck converters
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore how to configure Clock Voltage sources in NI Multisim
  • Learn about transistor switching characteristics in circuit design
  • Research buck converter design principles and applications
  • Investigate interactive components in NI Multisim for advanced simulations
USEFUL FOR

Electronics engineers, circuit designers, and students learning about simulation software and power electronics applications.

I am a new user of Multisim and I am trying to make a buck converter. In other softwares, such as pspice I was able to control the switching frequency by editing properties but in Multisim, most of the switches are user interactive. I want to set frequency of 50 Hz in a switch. Kindly help me out.

Thank you

Yeah I came to know the answer. Since in Multisim, the switches are interactive in nature so, in order to set the switching frequency, we have to use a transistor and apply a Clock Voltage to its source. We can then set the desired frequency in clock voltage source and get the required output.
