SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on the use of the MPX2100 atmospheric pressure sensor from Freescale for measuring pressure in a pipe. Users are advised to supply voltage to the sensor and read the output voltage to obtain pressure readings. For accurate measurements in a pipe, it is recommended to consider using larger pipes or alternative in-line pressure sensors instead of the MPX2100.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of pressure sensor functionality
  • Familiarity with the MPX2100 sensor specifications
  • Basic knowledge of electronic circuit design
  • Experience with voltage measurement techniques
NEXT STEPS
  • Research in-line pressure sensors suitable for pipe applications
  • Learn about the electrical characteristics of the MPX2100 sensor
  • Explore circuit design for integrating pressure sensors
  • Investigate alternative atmospheric pressure sensors for different applications
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for electronics enthusiasts, engineers working with pressure measurement systems, and anyone interested in integrating sensors into fluid dynamics applications.

I feel really stupid for asking this.. but how does this sensor work? I'm not really good at electronics.

What I mean is, if I have air flow through a pipe, how would I use this, through the small pipe that comes out the top? Or maybe put it inside the tube? Or is this an atmospheric pressure sensor?

looks like it's an atmospheric pressure sensor. supply voltage to it, and then read the voltage from the output pin

if you want to measure pressure in a pipe, i'd suggest using really big pipes.
other options include looking for some kind of in-line pressure sensor
