How did you find PF?
I found the site thru google.
I am most interested in understanding and improving the internal combustion engines of all types from jet engines to 2 stroke lawn mower engines. I have several concepts I have developed thru my own analysis and would like to hear from the professionals.

Welcome to PF.

Your motivations are good, and it looks like you've received good feedback in your first two thread starts (about ICE valve systems and air injection/fuel injection) that should help you in understanding why some of your brainstormed ideas won't improve things (yet).

You will get good feedback here, but please keep a couple things in mind:

** When posting an idea here, you really need to post links to your technical reading and ask questions about that reading. Just saying "I have this idea, why won't it work?" really doesn't cut it here at PF. We want to know that you have been doing a lot of work researching your ideas, and we want to see that you have narrowed it down to some questions about your reading. This applies mostly in the Physics side of the forums, but it also applies on the Engineering side as well.

** We prefer to see quantitative calculations about any new mechanisms here -- it is not enough to say "I think this will work better". Why do you say that? Show us your calculations that show a clear improvement in efficiency or performance or whatever.

I will send you a DM with tips for how to post math at PF, since hopefully in your future posts here you will post quantitative math that shows why you think your idea is better than the current state of the art.

Enjoy PF!

This is an area that has been developed under ferocious competition and even espionage for more than a century.
The big and successful manufactures of engines have used lot of resources, time and talent just to win races and get ahead of others.

Because of that, at this point, improvements to IC engines come more from sophistication in electronic control and exotic materials on proved devices than from completely new designs or ideas.

Please, see:

Please, do not receive this post as discouraging, but as sharing experience form someone who has been around and inside engines for several years.

That said, please keep showing us your concepts for all of us to discuss, but knowing that you will be facing the practical reality of what has worked and what has not.

Hello everyone, I was advised to join this community while seeking guidance on how to navigate the academic world as an independent researcher. My name is Omar, and I'm based in Groningen The Netherlands. My formal physics education ended after high school, but I have dedicated the last several years to developing a theoretical framework from first principles. My work focuses on a topological field theory (which I call Swirl-String Theory) that models particles as knotted vortex...
