AI Thread Summary
Using tmesh cards for energy deposition calculations can lead to the need for appropriate software to create dose profiles. Popular options include MATLAB and MS Excel, depending on existing skills and resources. If considering new software, it's beneficial to consult colleagues or peers for recommendations and support. Having a support network can significantly ease the learning curve and troubleshooting process. Selecting the right tool is crucial for effective data visualization.

I'm using tmesh3 cards to calculate the energy deposition, but I need to get a dose profile what should I do

What software are you using?

There are many possible tools to use to plot your results. Which one you use will depend on what you already have and on your skill set. For example, if you have MATLAB and you are already skilled in it, you will likely want to use it. Or, if you have MS Excel, and are already skilled in that, you can do some OK plotting in it.

If you need to choose a new tool, buy it, and get good at it, check with your coworkers, or co-students etc., and see what tools they use. Having a support group to learn a tool is a big consideration. "Why isn't this working the way I want?" is a thing you can get answered by the guy at the next desk a lot easier than online.

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
