Ideas for astrophysics investigation/experiment?

SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on seeking ideas for a physics investigation related to astrophysics, specifically focusing on the Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram. The original poster suggests investigating the relationship between the size of stars and their position on the H-R diagram. Participants express concern that the request may be an attempt to solicit help for homework rather than genuine inquiry. Suggestions for alternative variables to explore in relation to the H-R diagram are requested, alongside potential laws or topics in astrophysics for investigation.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram
  • Basic knowledge of stellar classification and properties
  • Familiarity with astrophysical laws, such as the Stefan-Boltzmann Law
  • Data analysis skills for interpreting astrophysical data
NEXT STEPS
  • Research alternative variables affecting star positions on the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram
  • Explore the implications of the Stefan-Boltzmann Law in stellar astrophysics
  • Investigate the life cycle of stars and its relation to the H-R diagram
  • Learn about data analysis techniques specific to astrophysical research
USEFUL FOR

Students in astrophysics, educators seeking investigation ideas, and researchers interested in stellar properties and data analysis methodologies.

Hi! I need to find multiple ideas for a physics investigation relating to astrophysics. The investigation is going to be like a lab report and must include data analysis and be maximum 2000 words. I have already thought of one idea: Investigating the relationship between the size and the position on the Hertzsprung-Russel diagram of stars.

Do you know other variables that I could substitute for "size" in the previous research question? -that would have a relationship with the position of stars on the H-R diagram? Or do you know any laws or other topics in astrophysics that I could investigate?

Let me know what you think!

I think you're asking us to do your schoolwork for you. Isn't this supposed to be your own idea?

this should really be in academic guidance

I'll close this thread as it really seems to be homework. I firstly thought it's about a kind of brain storming, but the "maximum of 2000 words" looks like homework.

@houli If I'm wrong then please send me a PM for clarification. Otherwise please post it in the homework section and don't forget to use our template, esp. section 3 "own efforts". Thank you.
