AI Thread Summary
A search is underway for a material that is transparent to UV light while reflecting visible light. Some metals may achieve this effect if their plasma frequency is appropriate. Teflon (PTFE) is mentioned as a potential candidate for transmitting UV light. Further suggestions or confirmations of materials that meet these criteria are requested. The discussion highlights the challenge of finding materials with these specific optical properties.

Hi all,
I am in a search for a material that is transparent in UV wavelengths, but reflect light in the visible wavelength (e.g. the opposite of standard glass). does anyone here know of such a material?

Thank's in advance

Some metals can do this, if the plasma frequency is right.

I think Teflon/PTFE transmits UV light.

I'll check them! thanks allot!
any more?

So I know that electrons are fundamental, there's no 'material' that makes them up, it's like talking about a colour itself rather than a car or a flower. Now protons and neutrons and quarks and whatever other stuff is there fundamentally, I want someone to kind of teach me these, I have a lot of questions that books might not give the answer in the way I understand. Thanks
