If you find a copy of Principles of Biological Autonomy by Francisco Varela, you might want to pick that up. It elaborates on the arithmetic developed in Laws of Form.

"Laws of Form" by G. Spencer-Brown is a highly influential and thought-provoking book in the field of mathematics and philosophy. Its unique approach to logic and its exploration of the fundamental structures of thought have made it a seminal work in the field.

However, it is not an easy read and requires a strong background in mathematics and formal logic to fully understand. Additionally, as you mentioned, it is out of print and the available copies are expensive. Therefore, I would suggest considering your interest and background in the subject before investing in a copy.

If you are passionate about exploring new and unconventional ideas, and have a solid foundation in mathematics and logic, then "Laws of Form" may be worth a read. But if you are looking for a light and easy read, it may not be the best choice for you. Ultimately, the decision to read this book depends on your personal interests and goals.
