SUMMARY

The discussion centers on obtaining data for the orbit of the S2 star around the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (Sgr-A*). A specific resource is mentioned: a paper that includes the orbital elements of 28 stars, including S2, which can be accessed via the provided link to arXiv (http://arxiv.org/abs/0810.4674v1). This data is essential for projects aimed at proving the existence of black holes through observational evidence.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics
  • Familiarity with black hole astrophysics
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques
  • Experience with arXiv and academic research resources
NEXT STEPS
  • Review the paper on arXiv for the orbital elements of S2 and other stars
  • Explore software tools for simulating orbital mechanics
  • Research methods for calculating gravitational effects of black holes
  • Investigate additional datasets on stellar orbits around Sgr-A*
USEFUL FOR

Astronomers, astrophysics researchers, and students involved in black hole studies or orbital mechanics analysis will benefit from this discussion.

Hello,
I'm doing a project on proving the existence of black holes. I am using Sgr-A as a test subject and am after the data set for the orbit of the star S2 around it so I can do some of my own calculations on it. Does anyone know where i might be able to obtain these?
