SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on sourcing a cost-effective ultrasound transducer probe suitable for marine applications, specifically side scan sonar and ROV imaging. The user requires a dual element PZT transducer operating between 1.2-2.5 MHz with a 360-degree cone and high power output. Recommendations include exploring the Physics Today website for potential suppliers that do not label their products as "medical," which typically increases prices.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of ultrasound transducer specifications, including frequency and power output.
  • Familiarity with dual element PZT technology.
  • Knowledge of marine applications for ultrasound, such as side scan sonar and ROV imaging.
  • Basic navigation skills for online supplier databases.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research suppliers listed on the Physics Today website for ultrasound transducers.
  • Investigate the specifications of dual element PZT transducers for marine applications.
  • Explore alternative sources for ultrasound transducers that cater to non-medical applications.
  • Learn about the integration of ultrasound transducers in side scan sonar systems.
USEFUL FOR

Marine engineers, ROV operators, and anyone involved in sonar imaging who seeks affordable ultrasound transducer solutions.

I can't seem to find a simple ultrasound transducer probe (that won't have "medical" tagged on it, hiking up the price). I need at least 1.2-2.5 mhz, 360 deg cone, high power. Dual element PZT. This is for marine application (side scan sonar/ROV imaging). Can anyone tell me where I can find it, preferably cheap?
