Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around modeling an optical system using Matlab Simulink, specifically incorporating an IR light source, FTIR spectrometer, and lock-in amplifier. Participants seek tutorials and guidance on various aspects of the design and implementation within Simulink.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about tutorials for designing an optical system that includes an IR light source, FTIR spectrometer, and lock-in amplifier.
  • Another participant asks for assistance on how to plot frequency response in Simulink.
  • A different participant suggests using the spectrum scope from the Simulink library for plotting frequency response, noting the need for a zero-order hold and specific buffer sizes.
  • One participant mentions designing a PID controller for ambient position control and requests information on plotting disturbance frequency sweeps.
  • Another participant seeks guidance on performing cosine and sine wave signal sweeps at specified amplitudes and drawing root locus for a system.
  • A participant requests help finding the LED block in Simulink, indicating difficulty in locating it in Matlab Simulink 2010b.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion contains multiple inquiries and suggestions, with no consensus reached on specific solutions or tutorials for the optical system design. Participants express various technical needs and challenges without resolving them collectively.

Contextual Notes

Participants express uncertainty regarding specific functionalities in Simulink, such as the requirements for plotting frequency responses and the availability of certain blocks. There are also dependencies on the version of Matlab being used, which may affect the availability of features.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in optical system modeling, Simulink users seeking technical assistance, and those working on PID controller design may find this discussion relevant.

Hello,

I'm trying to model a optic sytem, includes a IR light source, FTIR spectrometer, and lock-in amplifier. I wonder if anyone has knowledge about any tutorials for designing such a system.

Thanks

hello,
can anyone help me how to plot freq response in simulink

to plot frequency response you have to use spectrum scope from simulink library .
but you should take care of some things:
first if you are using analog signal you can't see it directly on spectrum scope as you should use azero order hold before it with agood sampling time.
also you should make the buffer size in spectrum scope bigger than the fft lenght
also both of them is power of 2 as 4, 8,16,64,128 ...etc.
i hope this help you

hello there
i am actually designiing a pid controller for amb position control
can u tell me how to plot disturbance freq sweep

thanx for the reply oufa
can you also tell me
1. how can i perform cos and sine wave signal sweep at a specified amplitude
2. how to draw root locus for a system?

Hi
Could u try these fiels my help u
Plz can u help me to find the LED block in simulink, I tried in Matlab simulink 2010b, and I could not find it

Buha
