I am trying to understand the meaning of the s-domain absolute function derived from taking the laplace transform of a t-domain function. I know for sure that the real part of the complex frequency in the time domain is the sinusoidal frequency and the imaginary part of the complex frequency in the time domain is the exponential decay frequency. I was able to prove this to myself. Now, in the s-domain, it seems like the opposite occurs. It looks to me like the real part is now the exponential decay and the imaginary part is now the sinusoidal frequency. IS my interpretation correct? I was hoping things would be simple and complex frequency could be interpreted in the same in both the t-domain and the s-domain....I guess I was wrong.
