SUMMARY

The discussion centers on acquiring Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (AMMC) reinforced with 15-20% Boron Carbide (B4C) in 1/4" thick sheets for research purposes. Participants recommend suppliers such as MSC Industrial Supply Company and Goodfellow, as well as Hardwire LLC, for sourcing these materials. The need for understanding the chemical-physical properties of these composites is also highlighted, suggesting further research into online resources.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (AMMC)
  • Knowledge of Boron Carbide (B4C) reinforcement
  • Familiarity with material thickness specifications (1/4" sheets)
  • Research skills for sourcing industrial materials
NEXT STEPS
  • Investigate suppliers like MSC Industrial Supply Company for AMMC
  • Explore Goodfellow's offerings for composite materials
  • Research the chemical-physical properties of B4C/Al composites
  • Look into Hardwire LLC for potential composite solutions

Hello! I am a grad student and am trying to acquire some Aluminum Metal Matrix composites with Boron Carbide reinforcement (15-20%) for research. I need the material to be in 1/4" thick sheets. Does anyone know of any companies that sell this sort of material?

Thanks!

Dear all:

For the chemical-physical properties of these composites I should first check various online sources.

Good luck,

Not sure what these guys are currently working on, but you might want to give them a try...

www.hardwirellc.com

just a thought...

good luck
