UNITED NATIONS - Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday appointed Tanzania's foreign minister to the No. 2 job at the United Nations, calling her a highly respected leader and outstanding manager who has championed the developing world...

Migiro, 50, a lawyer and former university, became Tanzania's first female foreign minister in January 2006. She will be the second woman to be deputy secretary-general, a post created by former Secretary-General
Kofi Annan and first held by former Canadian Defense Minister Louise Frechette.
