AI Thread Summary
Native Linux alternatives to Solidworks include VariCAD, which is highlighted as a parametric CAD option. Additionally, while high-end software like CATIA and NX may run on Unix, they come with prohibitively high costs. FreeCAD is also mentioned as a promising option for CAD simulation on Linux. The discussion emphasizes the need for affordable and functional CAD tools available for Linux users. Overall, there are several viable alternatives, but options may vary in terms of features and pricing.

Hello,
I am looking for CAD simulation software that can run natively on Linux. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

The only parametric CAD I can think of is http://www.varicad.com/en/home/

I think a few of the ultra high end (catia, NX etc) are also available on Unix but they have 6figure prices.

Not finished yet but looks promising...
