SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on designing a Battery Management System (BMS) circuit for a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack consisting of 11 cells in series. It emphasizes the necessity of monitoring individual cell discharge rates to prevent rapid discharge of any single cell. The proposed solution involves installing a BMS board at each cell and utilizing a single communication cable to connect the battery pack to a central controller for effective monitoring and management.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of NiMH battery chemistry and characteristics
  • Knowledge of BMS circuit design principles
  • Familiarity with series battery configurations
  • Experience with microcontroller communication protocols
NEXT STEPS
  • Research NiMH battery cell balancing techniques
  • Explore BMS design for series-connected battery packs
  • Learn about communication protocols for battery monitoring systems
  • Investigate microcontroller options for BMS implementation
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, battery system designers, and hobbyists interested in developing efficient battery management solutions for NiMH battery packs.
