SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the output voltage of a non-inverting operational amplifier (op-amp) configuration with V+ set at 2.5 volts and V- left unconnected. In this scenario, the output voltage (Voutput) will also be 2.5 volts, as the op-amp operates as a voltage follower with a gain of one. The resistor connecting V- and Voutput plays a crucial role in determining the voltage drop across it, influenced by the input bias current. For accurate analysis, reference to section 2.3 of the Wikipedia article on operational amplifier applications is recommended.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of non-inverting op-amp configurations
  • Knowledge of operational amplifier gain concepts
  • Familiarity with input bias current in op-amps
  • Basic circuit analysis involving resistors
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the operational amplifier applications detailed in the Wikipedia article on non-inverting amplifiers
  • Explore the effects of input bias current on op-amp performance
  • Learn about resistor configurations in op-amp circuits
  • Investigate the implications of unconnected inputs in op-amp designs
USEFUL FOR

Electronics engineers, students studying circuit design, and anyone interested in operational amplifier functionality and analysis.

suppose an amplifier with V+ is 2.5 volts
and V- is not connected...V- and Voutput are connected by a resistor.
what is the voltage on the outpout of the op amp?

Engineering news on Phys.org
This is a non-inverting op-amp configuration with a gain of one, sometimes called a voltage follower.

+2.5v.

the V- is not connected. (even not connected to ground reference)
the voltage at V- is zero or +2.5 volts like V+ or what?
thank you
