Pair Production QED: Finding a Study Guide

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding suitable study materials for understanding pair production in quantum electrodynamics (QED), particularly using Feynman diagrams. The participant is currently using the "Quantum Field Theory" book by Schwartz, which they find too advanced for their level. Recommendations for more accessible resources are sought, especially for beginners in quantum field theory.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of quantum mechanics
  • Familiarity with Feynman diagrams
  • Introduction to quantum field theory concepts
  • Knowledge of fundamental particle interactions
NEXT STEPS
  • Research introductory texts on quantum electrodynamics, such as "An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory" by Peskin and Schroeder
  • Explore online courses or lectures on Feynman diagrams and their applications in QED
  • Study supplementary materials that simplify quantum field theory concepts for beginners
  • Engage with forums or study groups focused on quantum mechanics and field theory
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students new to quantum field theory, educators seeking teaching resources, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of pair production and QED fundamentals.

Homework Statement

In a few more months I have to present a report about pair production in quantum electrodynamics, using Feynman diagrams.

I have been using the QFT Schwartz book, I find it a bit advanced for my level, could someone recommend me a book to study this phenomenon?.

Thank you very much

It would help to know what your level actually is.

It's my first quantum field theory course.

Are we going to have to sloooooooowly tease this out of you bit...by bit...by bit?

Of course this is your first quantum theory course. You've already told us Schwartz is too advanced for you, and that is typically a first course book. What courses have you had?
