Please read our Contest Rules before submitting. Our theme this time is

I Love A Man/Woman In Uniform

With Memorial Day weekend coming up, I thought it would be appropriate to salute the men and women in the armed services. However, I will expand the subject matter even further by including all men and women in uniforms. So this can include the military, police, UPS delivery guy, etc. Just make sure your picture's main focus is on people in uniforms, and that these are "official" uniforms, not something made up.

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a grey area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 650 x 490 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. But other than that, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one threads. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. These pictures must be something that YOU TOOK, not something taken off someone else's photo albums or taken by someone else. I have no way of checking if you did this, so we'll go by the honor system.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

This contest will run a little bit longer than usual since I will be on vacation.

This pic was taken from the USS J.F. Kennedy during an "unrep" or underway replenishment. The men are wearing the daily shipboard working uniforms ... Dungarees. They are standing on the supply ship while fuel lines (visible in the foreground) are ran across the ~150' of water between the ships. This process is carried on while the ships sail parallel to each other at about 15knots.

The 278th is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the only enhanced Armored Cavalry Regiment in the National Guard and one of only two in the United States Army. With units located throughout East and Middle Tennessee, the regiment is rich with the volunteer tradition which has been part of "The Volunteer State" since 1780 when Colonel John Sevier called for "100 good men" and 200 answered.

The regiment was called to active duty and mobilized as the 278th Regimental Combat Team (278th RCT). Mobilization training was completed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi in November 2004 and then the unit deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 278th Regimental Combat Team included units from Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Vermont.

The 278th RCT completed its mission in Iraq and redeployed to the States during October/November 2005 and then completed demobilization at Camp Shelby, MS; Fort Drum, NY and Fort McCoy, WI. All units are now off active duty and back at home station. -- http://www.278acr.com/metadot/index.pl

The dinghy is getting owned by the Harbor Patrol; note the patrol has the dinghy's rope in hand. Not a very strong ownage, but still there.

That's because it's not a sticky this time. People need to comment when they vote...obviously there are enough votes that it's getting attention, but it's drifting down because nobody is saying anything.
