Due to some server OS software hitting end-of-life for support, we're migrating to a new server. The exact date and time are undecided but likely this coming Friday 7/19. We will experience some downtime in the single-digit hours range. I'll keep this thread updated as I know more.

There is always this: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/The_Sparkswall

Unfortunately you’ll have to go through the Underdark to get it.

45 minutes is very good!

We should establish a muster point, such as a Facebook page, for when it inevitably goes awry.

I would have said two hours to be on the safe side but have faith!

Kudos. This is a very clever strategy to confuse Murphy and his Minions. Keep 'em guessing. And never announce the job sucessfully completed. That is the time of maximal Murphy peril. Don't even think it!

Mr. Scott. Have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four?

If you are out on your calculation and I pointed it out, this will be a "dear diary" entry.

Beware the BOFH - I'm hoping Insights Articles will be out of reach!

Another user rings.

"I need more space" he says.

"Well, why don't you move to Texas?" I ask.

"No, on my account, stupid."

Stupid?!?.... Uh-Oh..

"I'm terribly sorry" I say, in a polite manner equal to that of Jimmy Stewart in a Family Matinee "I didn't quite catch that. What was it that you said?"

I smell the fear coming down the line at me, but it's too late, he's a goner and he knows it.

"Um, I said what I wanted was more space on my account, *please*."

"Sure, hang on."

I hear him gasp his relief even though he covered the mouthpeice.

"There, you've got plenty of space now."

"How much have I got?"

Now this REALLY ***** *ME* *OFF*! Not only do they want me to give them extra disk, they want to check it, to correct me if I don't give them enough. They should be happy with what I give them *and that's it*!!!

Back into Jimmy Stewart mode.

"Well, let's see, you have 4 Meg available."

"Wow! Eight Meg in total, thanks!" he says pleased with his bargaining power.

"No" I interrupt, savouring this like a fine red, at room temperature "4 Meg in total..."

"Huh?... I'd used 4 Meg already, How could I have 4 Meg Available?"

I say nothing. It'll come to him.

"AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhH!"

Don't know if it still does it, but the BOFH stories site used to check the user-agent string and if you were using Internet Explorer it would display with a tiled background of black-and-white photos of a coffee cup. It was near-unreadable. But only if you were using IE... 😁

I guess, the first time I read it was on Netscape, or maybe on a mainframe.

There will be no drink or chips, no pillow, delay is likely, and likely that we crash at some point :-p

Epipen? AED? Dr Mike?
For a peanut allergy respiratory emergency, you need Epi (and Benadryl if possible). AED just makes them make funny faces...

A friend of my wife recently got stung in the mouth by some kind of hornet (it was on a sandwich she was eating). Her throat became somewhat constricted. She got checked out at an urgent care.
She got 2 doses of benadryl. She acted kind of drunk and needed help getting home, but she was fine the next day.

We're set for launch in 15min

I think there might be an obscure reference hidden in there somewhere. Just in case, here's this:

Eating “lucky peanuts” before launches and other major mission events is a longstanding tradition at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

And a video explaining it:
