In summary: Should be another exciting one. (I had expected Carlsen to win the 7th, because it's a Scandinavian and he is a specialist in that)In summary, the current chess world championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana is tied at 5.5:5.5 after 11 matches. The next match, the last regular one, is set to be an exciting one as Caruana has white. The match has been full of exciting and active games, with a notable sacrifice of a pawn by Caruana in the 6th match. Fans of the match can follow live updates and comments on online platforms, as well as use local PGN viewers to replay the matches.

I wondered, if it was possible to have a PGN interpreter on the server?

E.g.

As seen in the header, this is the second match of the current world championship (1:1); the third will be played on Monday. It would be nice to have a thread, where the matches could be followed live and commented by our members.

I don't know how many of us are interested in the matches, so it is probably not a high priority issue. However, it would be fancy.

Another possibility would be that someone livestreams the match and updates a post here, so that we could follow the match with local PGN viewers, but this is a bit complicated and people would likely switch to a news site which provides the format.

I've never heard of PGN viewing before. My guess is it wouldn't be used much? Aren't there youtube or other live streaming methods out there?

I have only German pages which I use to follow the matches. But to get an impression, here is an example (it's self explaining and the language is only important if one wants to read the live comments; the magazine site is serious, so no need to fear the click; a bit like the NYT):
http://www.spiegel.de/sport/sonst/s...-fabiano-caruana-im-liveticker-a-1237462.html

For local use I downloaded this: https://sourceforge.net/projects/chessx/ (server in SD(CA))
It allows me to load those files and replay the matches.

Btw. 2:2 after 4 tied matches. Bye day today. 5th tomorrow Caruana with white (1500 GMT)

By the way: the current match (#5) is very exciting and active, including a sacrifice of a pawn on b4 in the 6th of a Sicilian.

6th match and Carlsen with white struggles heavily to keep the tie in a Russian. Looks as if Caruana could win this one.

For all who are interested: Caruana with white in the eighth at 3.5 : 3.5; Sicilian (Sveshnikov) and as a general description: Fury in the Slaughterhouse!

Last regular match: 5.5:5.5, Cauana with white.

What is PGN display?

PGN display stands for Possibility of Game Notation display. It is a way to visually represent possible moves and outcomes in a game, typically used in chess and other strategy games.

How does PGN display work?

In PGN display, each move is represented by a combination of letters and numbers, with the origin square and destination square of a piece denoted. This allows players to easily track the progress of a game and analyze potential outcomes.

What are the benefits of using PGN display?

PGN display allows for easy notation and analysis of games, making it a useful tool for players and coaches. It also allows for the sharing and archiving of games in a standardized format.

Can PGN display be used for any game?

While PGN display is most commonly used in chess, it can also be applied to other strategy games such as checkers, Go, and shogi. However, its use may vary depending on the specific rules and movements of each game.

Are there any limitations to PGN display?

One limitation of PGN display is that it does not capture the nuances and strategies of a game, as it only records the moves and outcomes. Additionally, it may not be suitable for games with a large number of possible moves or complex pieces.
