Problem in taking voltage signal from photodiode to labview

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on interfacing the DET10A photodiode with a USB-6008 data acquisition (DAQ) device using LabVIEW. Users report that while LabVIEW displays values between 1.4 and 1.42 volts, accurate readings are obtained when measuring with a multimeter or oscilloscope, indicating a potential issue with signal conversion. The maximum output voltage from the photodiode for the intended measurement is 1.05 V. A recommendation is made to convert the photodiode's output signal to a serial bit stream for proper DAQ compatibility.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of photodiode operation and output characteristics
  • Familiarity with USB-6008 DAQ device and its configuration
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW software for data acquisition
  • Basic principles of signal conversion and serial communication
NEXT STEPS
  • Research methods for converting analog signals to serial bit streams
  • Explore LabVIEW signal processing techniques for DAQ integration
  • Learn about the specifications and limitations of the USB-6008 DAQ
  • Investigate troubleshooting techniques for DAQ signal discrepancies
USEFUL FOR

Electronics engineers, LabVIEW developers, and researchers working with photodiodes and data acquisition systems who need to ensure accurate voltage measurements.

Hi frnds,

I have the photodiode DET10A and I am trying to take its output to computer using USB-6008. Labview feels that the DAQ’s ports are open and shows values 1.4 – 1.42. However, when I connect the photodiode to a multimeter or oscilloscope I see correct signal. the maximum photodiode output voltage for my measurement is 1.05 V.

What should I connect to the output end of the photodiode in order to get voltage measurement at the DAQ’s port.

Thank you very much

With regards
Shiju

USB is a serial port. You need to convert the signal to a serial bit stream.
