Undergrad Radiation modeling software (radiation blocking qualities)

Click For Summary
To test materials for their radiation blocking qualities across the electromagnetic spectrum, GEANT4 is recommended as the standard software for modeling high-energy photons. It allows users to set specific wavelengths and frequencies for emitters and receivers, facilitating the measurement of blocked wavelengths by various materials. The discussion emphasizes the need for software that can accurately simulate interactions in particle detectors. Participants suggest that GEANT4 is widely utilized in the field for such applications. This makes it a suitable choice for anyone looking to analyze radiation shielding properties.

Hi guys,

I'm wanting to test materials developed in CAD software for their radiation blocking qualities (EM Spectrum), I would ideally need to use a software where I can set the wavelength and frequency of the emitter and set up a receiver, allowing me to place different materials in the middle to measure the wavelengths that were blocked.

Any ideas which software I could use?

Thanks!
Paul

Where in the EM spectrum?

As you posted this in the particle physics section: For high energy photons the standard program is GEANT4. Everyone uses it to model how things behave in particle detectors.
