Fig. 10 shows a pretty good demonstration of the parallax blur involved. Recall that the camera is moving (as is the whole trolley) and there's also some trolley bumps and camera shake making obvious blurs throughout the image. I'm also trying to pan on the woman, with only limited success. Now note the parallax components where the woman's blur trails down and to the right, whereas the background blur trails down and to the left.
2026 Halloween pics. I went to San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter again. It rained a bit.
I was feeling kinda icky on Halloween due to the chemotherapy side effects. I did manage to stay out a couple of hours for these pics.
I had grand plans of staying out longer: getting in close with a wide angle lens once it got really crowded. But I didn't want to accidentally vomit or poop on anybody. So I took precautions and never quite made it.
The good news is I didn't vomit on anybody. Bit of a tidbit here, I haven't vomited at all in about 2 or 3 years. Friends who've known me in my youth might be shocked by this fact. But yeah, even though all this surgery and chemo and whatnot, I haven't vomited at all for years.
I also didn't accidentally poop on anybody either. Though it seemed like it might be dicey at times. So after a couple hours I slowly moseyed on back to the trolley station, taking pictures along the way.
My shutter speed gradually slowed to about 1/2 second. Some of the pics came out kinda blurry.
