Hello,

Can someone recommend a book for Optical physics? I am keen to learn rigorously some fundamental aspects of light passing through various mediums (lens). I want to understand terms such as focus, blur, aberrations etc.

Hi,

I have a Bachelor's in Mech. and I am a Mechanical engineer. I am good at Maths. I can visualize calculus very well. Let me know if you need more information?

Well, you could try Modern Optical Engineering, by Warren J. Smith.
It's the recommended textbook for my Geometrical Optics class and should cover everything you've asked for.

Hecht - optics

I've been using this book for my optics module at university. So I think it will suit you.

Thank you.

Born & Wolf "Principles of Optics". The classic with free download.
