Hi,

could anyone recommend a good mechanical textbook, i was after something intermediate but that defines the functions / equations it gives rather then just stating them.

thanks

Hi dave, do u mean a mechanical engineering text? a mechanics text? or a mechanical device book? mechanical engineering is a big field, you need to be more specific before anyone can give you a meaningful reply.

hi, i mean statics and dynamics!

In 1st and 2nd class Power Engineering we use the Reeds Marine Engineering series. A P.Eng might consider it more elementary than intermediate, but it does explain derivations for the equations. It will cover sections 1 through 8 in this link: http://www.epic-edu.com/epic/OE/1st/1A1.htm
