AI Thread Summary
Engineering Mechanics: Statics by Hibbeler is generally regarded as a solid resource, with positive feedback on its illustrations and overall content. Some users noted that the 10th edition lacked examples, but this criticism was not echoed for the 11th edition, which has fewer reviews available. Personal experiences highlight the effectiveness of the book for both statics and dynamics courses. Overall, it is considered a worthwhile investment for students studying engineering mechanics. The discussion suggests that Hibbeler's books maintain a good reputation among users.

Has anyone tried engineering mechanics: statics by hibbeler? Is this a good book?
From the reviews on the 10th edition people said that it lacked examples. But there aren't many reviews on the 11th edition?

That was my text back when i took statics, i found it pretty good. Certainly no striking lack of examples.

I used Hibbler for both statics and dynamics (6th ed. I believe). I thought it had the best illustrations around. Pretty good books IMO.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
