SUMMARY

The discussion centers on troubleshooting a variable Jacobian error encountered in COMSOL Multiphysics while modeling tsunami wave propagation using the PDE interface. The issue arises specifically in the time-dependent case, while stationary cases function correctly. Users suggest exploring the MATLAB optimization toolbar as a potential solution for resolving the error in COMSOL V4.0a.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with COMSOL Multiphysics, specifically the PDE interface.
  • Understanding of time-dependent simulations in computational modeling.
  • Basic knowledge of variable Jacobians in numerical methods.
  • Experience with MATLAB and its optimization toolbox.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to configure time-dependent simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • Explore the use of variable Jacobians in COMSOL and common troubleshooting techniques.
  • Learn how to utilize the MATLAB optimization toolbox in conjunction with COMSOL.
  • Investigate examples of tsunami wave propagation models in COMSOL for best practices.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for engineers, researchers, and students working on fluid dynamics simulations, particularly those using COMSOL Multiphysics for wave propagation modeling.

Hello everyone!
I'm a new entry in thi forum and I need some help with Comsol multiphysics.
I'm creating a model of tsunami waves propagation in a defined domain using the PDE interface.
I ve not problems in stationary case, but when I try in time dependent case Comsol give me the error: error in evaluating a variable Jacobian
Someone can tell me how can I resolve this problem?
I would be very grateful!

Thanks to all

Hi,
I have the same problem with COMSOL V4.0a. I'm wondering if you found any solution for that? Do I suppose to use MATLAB optimization toolbar in this case. If yes do you know any example that can help me to solve my model using optimization toolbar in MATLAB?
I greatly appreciate you help,
Atieh
