Superstrings - what happens when a string has no vibration?

Can anyone tell me what would happen if a "string" (as in the strings in the superstring theory) for some reason had no vibration. Would it cease to exist? Would it just release all of its energy?

I'm not sure they can stop vibrating.

In bosonic string theory, the string state without vibration corresponds to a tachyon. However, bosonic string theory is not realistic.
In superstring theory, such a tachyonic state is removed by the GSO projection. In other words, a superstring state without vibration does not exist.
