How do I get sustained high volts with low amps?

Hello, I have a limited knowledge of electronic engineering, so please bear with me. I want to Have a device that I could have high volts with low amps and have the power be sustained. Then I could possibly use an Arduino with a silicon carbide MOSFET to do precise pause with modulation. The only things that I can think of that would make high volts would be a Van De Graaff Generator or a taser. Could you help me to know how to get sustained high volts around 2000 with "safe" ish amps? Thank you!

Why do you need high voltage?
Do you need AC or DC?

The power will not be great before it becomes dangerous.
For example, 1 mA at 2 kV will be 2 watts, and can kill you.

Please provide a lot more details about the application and your circuit design experience so far. Do you have a local mentor that is helping you with this project, or are you just relying on the Internet for help?

This is something you do after you have a good knowledge of Electrical Engineering. Put it on your "to do later" list, and live long enough to get there.

We may know of a safe and practical low-cost solution.
