AI Thread Summary
To calculate the temperature of the steel plate beneath the cement plate, the heat transfer principles must be applied, specifically conduction. The relevant formula is Fourier's law of heat conduction, which requires knowledge of thermal conductivity for both materials, the thickness of the plates, and the temperature difference. Additional information, such as the duration of heat exposure and any heat loss to the environment, is also essential for accurate calculations. Without these details, it is impossible to determine the temperature of the steel plate accurately. Understanding these factors is crucial for solving heat transfer problems effectively.

can anyone tell me what formulae i can use to calculate the temperature of two plate?

eg i have a cement plate on top of a steel plate. each plate say 0.5cm thick. on one side of the cement plate is at 1000 degree c. in still air of room temperature 20 degree c. what's the temperature of the steel plate?

There is not nearly enough information in that question to even begin calculations.

i uploaded an image to explain better. but that information you need? it doesn't have to be a calculation, just a formula will do.
