The temperature of the compressed air in a diesel engine

Click For Summary
The discussion focuses on the temperature of compressed air in a diesel engine just before fuel injection and auto-ignition. It seeks to understand the rough temperature range necessary for diesel fuel to ignite. Initial responses suggest that diesel fuel typically ignites at temperatures around 210-250°C (410-482°F). The conversation references external sources for more detailed information on ignition temperatures. Understanding these temperatures is crucial for optimizing diesel engine performance and efficiency.

Hi,

Could someone tell me the rough temperature the air gets to under compression, just prior to the diesel being injected and auto igniting?

thanks in advance

Ok thanks.

Suppose what I'm really asking is what sort of temperatures does diesel ignite?

What mathematics software should engineering students use? Is it correct that much of the engineering industry relies on MATLAB, making it the tool many graduates will encounter in professional settings? How does SageMath compare? It is a free package that supports both numerical and symbolic computation and can be installed on various platforms. Could it become more widely used because it is freely available? I am an academic who has taught engineering mathematics, and taught the...
