SUMMARY

To succeed in Aeronautical Engineering, students must have a solid foundation in mathematics and physics. Essential topics include two levels of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and Introductory Physics (Mechanics). Advanced topics such as pre-calculus and calculus are highly beneficial. In college, students will encounter courses in Calculus 1, 2, and 3, basic chemistry, and various physics disciplines including statics, dynamics, electricity, magnetism, and waves.

PREREQUISITES
  • Two levels of algebra
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Introductory Physics (Mechanics)
NEXT STEPS
  • Review pre-calculus and calculus concepts
  • Study basic chemistry principles
  • Explore physics topics: statics, dynamics, electricity, magnetism, and waves
  • Familiarize yourself with CADD (Computer-Aided Design) tools
USEFUL FOR

Aeronautical engineering students, educators in engineering disciplines, and anyone preparing for college-level mathematics and physics courses.

As in any engineering field regarding math and physics courses prior to entrance into college, you need to be skilled in at least 2 levels of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and Introductory Physics (Mechanics), and pre-calculus and calculus would be a plus. Once in college for the AE degree, there will be (or should be) courses in Calculus 1,2,and 3, basic chemistry, Physics (statics, dynamics, electricity, magnetism, and waves), Engineering Sciences, and CADD. Do well in these over your first 2 college years, and the rest, with some hard work, will follow. Good Luck!
