Transformers and Electric power Ltspice

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the energy conversion efficiency of transformers in LTspice simulations. Users reported discrepancies in power values, specifically that P2 was significantly lower than expected when using a transformer with a coupling coefficient (K) of 1. The issue was identified as being related to the presence of a flyback diode, which affected the efficiency, yielding only 90% equality between P1 and P2. Additionally, there was confusion regarding file formats, specifically the .asc.dox extension, which should be corrected to .asc for proper LTspice functionality.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of transformer theory and efficiency calculations
  • Familiarity with LTspice simulation software
  • Knowledge of circuit components, including flyback diodes
  • Basic skills in file management and format handling
NEXT STEPS
  • Investigate the impact of flyback diodes on transformer efficiency in LTspice
  • Learn how to properly configure and analyze transformer circuits in LTspice
  • Explore methods to troubleshoot power discrepancies in LTspice simulations
  • Study the principles of energy conversion in electrical circuits
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, circuit designers, and students working with LTspice simulations, particularly those focused on transformer efficiency and circuit analysis.

Hi, i was looking for the Energy conversion efficiency of my circuit in Ltspice, but i find out that my Transformers is giving me strange power values i mean with K = 1 the P1 should be equel to P2 but in my case P2 is is way too small , i get equality 90% only if get rid of the Flyback diode, can you please help me understand the reason behind this

Can you post a PDF of a screenshot of the circuit and of your analysis?
