Troubleshooting Latex Loading Issues

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around issues related to LaTeX loading on the forum, particularly after a server migration. Participants are troubleshooting the visibility of LaTeX-rendered content, exploring potential causes and solutions.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant reports persistent loading issues with LaTeX, seeing only a loading message.
  • Another participant suggests that the LaTeX interpreter may not have been fully migrated to the new server, based on information from a forum administrator.
  • A different participant claims that LaTeX is functioning again, although this is not universally experienced.
  • There are mixed reports on the visibility of LaTeX graphics, with some participants able to see certain graphics while others cannot, indicating potential inconsistencies in the migration process.
  • One participant notes that there might be data loss in posts containing LaTeX, depending on the server used when the posts were created.
  • Another participant suggests a workaround of deleting and reposting if LaTeX does not render correctly the first time.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing experiences with LaTeX functionality, indicating that the situation is not universally resolved. There is no consensus on the status of LaTeX rendering or the completeness of the server migration.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include uncertainty about the full extent of the server migration and its impact on LaTeX rendering, as well as potential data loss in posts. The discussion reflects ongoing troubleshooting rather than definitive solutions.

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but as of late I have been unable to see a lot of latex, all I see is "please wait while...is loading". It never loads.

This IS the place to note that. I don't know for sure, but Greg said that only part of the system was successfully moved to the new server. I suspect that the LaTeX interpreter was part of the stuff that will have to wait for another migration.

[itex]\LaTeX[/itex] is up and running again.

chroot, that LaTeX graphic in your post (#3) doesn't show. Testing:

[tex]\tau\epsilon\sigma\tau\iota\nu\gamma[/tex]

Only about every other graphic shows up. Chroot's shows up for me, but AKG's is just a broken link symbol. Greg mentioned in another post that there might be some data loss in posts containing LaTex depending on which server your posts were going to when you typed it (I was only able to get back to PF about an hour and a half ago, so I don't think the migration is totally complete yet).

Edit: Chroot beat me to it!

Hmm--
Chroot wrote "[tex]\LaTeX[/tex]", and

AKG wrote "[tex]\tau\epsilon\sigma\tau\iota\nu\gamma[/tex]"

Usually you can just delete-then-repost your post
if [tex]\LaTeX[/tex] does not function the first time//
