Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the permittivity of tungsten, exploring its properties and values. Participants express difficulty in finding reliable information on this topic, which pertains to the dielectric properties of materials, particularly in the context of conductors.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests information on tungsten's permittivity, indicating difficulty in finding this data from various sources.
  • Another participant questions the relevance of permittivity for tungsten, noting that it is a conductor.
  • A third participant suggests that permittivity can be a complex number with a significant imaginary component, which may apply to conductors like tungsten.
  • A source is provided that may contain relevant information about the refractive index and permittivity of tungsten.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the relevance of permittivity for tungsten as a conductor, and the discussion remains unresolved regarding the specific values or properties of tungsten's permittivity.

Contextual Notes

The discussion highlights the potential complexity of permittivity in conductive materials and the challenges in finding definitive data. There is an implicit assumption that permittivity is relevant to the inquiry, despite tungsten's conductive nature.

Good evening,

So... I am looking for the Tungsten permettivity and i don't find this feature...

I have searched on Wikipedia, some material data but i don't find...

Do you know what is the Tungsten permettivity?

Thanks.

Is not permittivity a dielectric phenomena? Permittivity is a measure of how an electric field affects, and is affected by, a dielectric medium.

As Doug says, tungsten is a conductor. Why are you looking for its permittivity?
