SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the use of screen mesh as a waterproof material, specifically addressing the size of the mesh required to prevent water penetration by not breaking the surface tension. Participants emphasize the importance of considering water pressure against the mesh in addition to its size. A suggestion was made to use a weed blocker treated with a waterproofing agent from Liquidoff to enhance the effectiveness of the mesh in keeping interiors dry while allowing airflow.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of surface tension in liquids
  • Knowledge of mesh material specifications
  • Familiarity with waterproofing agents, specifically Liquidoff
  • Basic principles of fluid dynamics related to pressure
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specifications for screen mesh materials and their water resistance
  • Explore the properties and applications of Liquidoff waterproofing agents
  • Investigate fluid dynamics principles related to pressure and surface tension
  • Learn about alternative waterproofing solutions for outdoor applications
USEFUL FOR

Homeowners, DIY enthusiasts, and product designers looking to implement waterproof solutions while maintaining airflow in open spaces.

How small would screen mesh have to be so that it would be consider waterproof? (ex: screen mesh small enough so that it would not break the surface tension of the water)

I suggest you would also have to consider the pressure of the water against the mesh

so tell us more about what you are trying to achieve :smile:Dave

I would like to have my window open when it's raining and feel the fresh air, without my stuff getting wet. I was thinking some weed blocker sprayed with some https://www.liquidoff.com . Thought?
